Cultural Sensible Digital Place-Making: Mediated XicanIndio ResolanaCristobal Martinez (Arizona State University) AbstractMediated XicanIndio Resolana is an interactive space where multiple participants engage in three rounds of verbal discourse surrounding a special topic. In this space, verbal discourse is coupled with the manipulation of digital media through interaction protocols and symbolic gestures. As an experiential media design team that includes Chicano and Native American designers, we are currently working to prepare a culturally sensible prototype of our resolana for deployment in middle and high school classrooms to conduct social and cultural work. The cultural sensibilities that we seek to express refer to Chicano and Native American perspectives. To achieve this we require critical feedback from members of Chicano and Native American communities regarding the presentation and implications of our resolana. Through their feedback we have proceeded with new iterations of our interactive space to improve the cultural sensibility that we seek in our resolana.
